At Augers UK we understand the importance of variation in auger materials, as applications can have a combination of requirements to meet. That is why we provide a range of applicable materials that can meet strict manufacturing specifications. Our construction materials include 303/304 and 316 stainless steel, UHMWPE (Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene), Brass, Mild steel, and plastic with metal detectable plastic available when required.
303/304/316 stainless steel augers and auger conveyors
UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene)
Brass augers
Metal detectable plastic
Mild steel
Plastic augers
We can advise on each material’s pros & cons to help you understand what auger material is best suited to you. From the corrosion resistance of various steel alloys to the chemical resistance of UHMWPE, Trantec can assist. Below are a few examples.
Advantages of UHMWPE
High resistance to tensile and compressive stress
High operational temperatures and good dielectric properties.
High resistant to most stripping agents and solvents, including alkalis, acids, organic solvents, degreasing agents, and non-toxic electrolytic attack
Robust and non-staining qualities
High abrasion and chemical erosion resistance compared to other polymers
Self-lubricating with non-stick qualities
Advantages of 303 stainless steel
Can withstand corrosion resistance from all atmospheric sources, organic chemicals, dyes and sterilisers
Good resistance to oxidation when intermittently exposed to temperatures under 760 degrees C
Advantages of 304 stainless steel
304 Stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel which provides resistance to acidic and caustic solutions
Reduced chance of intergranular corrosion
Melting point is betwenn 2550 to 2650 degrees fahrenheit, enabling stainless steel 304 to withstand extremely high temperatures
Advantages of 316 stainless steel
Greater resistance properties than 304 stainless steel
Easier fabrication, cleaning and welding properties
Increased resistance to sodium chloride-based substances
Durable and easy to clean, therefore the preferred choice for food applications
316 stainless steel contains molybdenum properties, enabling 316 to withstand salt, highly acidic environments an high temperatures
